Your accountabilities

Reporting to one of the Senior Managers in the CoE, you will help the Finance Business Partners in the Food Finance team articulating and delivering the enhancements required to the trade reporting and planning application. Key activities for this role include:

  • Capture requirements from the Finance Business Partners and identify if these can already be met by the existing functionalities
  • For new requirements not met by the existing application, document the changes that need to be implemented, at the level of detailed required by the technical developers to provide an estimate of the effort
  • Manage a dynamic backlog of cross-functional requirements, across all the areas of Food Finance, continually reviewing and prioritising the enhancements included in the backlog with the Senior Manager and Business Owner
  • Working with the technical developers (either internal or the external system integration partner), represent the Food Finance team in reviewing the progress of the implementation activities
  • Define and establish an internal testing framework with suitable documentation that feeds into a UAT stage
  • Investigate data quality issues raised in testing or post deployment, liaising with the developer, source system support team or SME to provide initial root cause analysis or remediation options. This may include master or transactional data
  • Manage User Acceptance Testing, defining the test scope and approach first, and coordinating the testing activities later
  • Define and establish a library of documentation and processes to support the requirements elicitation and change control, integrating this into current processes within JIRA
  • Prepare documentation to transition the operation of new reports to the Reporting Operations Team in the CoE

    Your skills

The skills you will bring to the CoE team are:

    • Strong data interpretation skills: detail-oriented, creative, inquisitive, persistent, and self-motivated in applying analytical acumen to support the Finance Business Partners
    • Strong communication and influencing skills
    • Knowledge of how a Retail company operates
    • Strong understanding of commercial and financial reporting processes
    • Be able to explain confidently the technical feasibilities, complexities, observations, preferred options or impediments to the Senior Manager and Business Owner, that will have been extracted from a technical developer or stakeholder conversations
    • Demonstrated experience in learning how to use business intelligence and reporting tools: you will be working primarily with BOARD and, while you don't need to be a technical developer, you are expected to become confident in using the tool as an end-user
    • Confidence in discussing financial measures: an accounting qualification (or working towards the qualification) is preferable
    • A solid grounding in logical data models used to drive analytics
    • A project owner level understanding of JIRA and some limited Agile methodologies is preferable
