Job Description

Job Purpose/ Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility is for the Software Test Team and testing of the Product. The Software Test Manager must be prepared to take responsibility/be accountable for Test Team work as required.

  • Role primarily includes Line Managing Software Testers

  • Also manual Testing, typically - Sanity, Functionality, Regression, Stress, Load

  • Team is to Create, maintain and develop automation test suite

  • Team is responsible for Reporting and logging of defects and responding to Developer requests for follow up defects/retesting as and when required

  • Team members should always provide assistance to more Junior Team members. The Software Test Manager will be keen to provide mentor role alongside day to day activities to junior Testers, and will be expected to work alongside the team to achieve deadlines. 

  • Team members are to liaise and attend meetings with other company functions as necessary to perform duties and aid business and organizational development, on occasions this may be out of office hours

  • Customer Contact (although infrequent) is to be expected


  • Basic Requirements

    Knowledge, Skills & Experience required :

  • Must have - Recognized Academic or Technical qualifications related to Software / Testing.

  • Must have - 3+ years experience of both designing/Coding/deploying automated software tests, and devising/performing Manual software tests. Familiarity with Agile environments.

  • Must have - Life Cycle Experience of Software Testing including reporting adherence to requirements and reporting of Bugs/Defects. Familiarity using Tools such as Jira, Confluence, TestRail, Aha.

  • Desirable - Experience working with Telephone (PSTN/PBX/SIP, etc.) and Radio (TETRA, DMR, Broadband PTT etc.) Communications systems

  • Desirable - Audio Electronics testing experience

  • Desireable - Leadership experience - small team

  • Core Competencies/ Personal Profile:

  • Must be able to attain SC/NPPV3 clearance.

  • Expected to work within a team and be capable as an individual with minimal supervision.

  • Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel both in and out of the UK as occasion arises.

  • A mature attitude that understands the need in this role to be capable of communicating ideas, balancing arguments, and respecting others & their points of view.

  • Able to focus on both new design and rectification tasks with equal determination, practices critical assessments and adjustments to enhance their own performance.
