MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE BUSINESS:
Responsible for designing and leading the successful implementation of migration activities covering scenarios such as data migrations to support new digital services and cloud analytic platforms, and database migration within a cloud adoption program
Understanding commercial constraints and ensuring that all technology decisions satisfy both commercial and technical success criteria. Will be comfortable in liaising with clients and representing the technical face of Kainos externally.
Provides strong technical competence within Kainos. Continuously innovates, managing risk appropriately and ensuring that Kainos’ and client’s capabilities are enhanced. Devises and costs significant solutions from scratch. Helps to define technical direction both within Kainos and throughout project teams. Actively maintains a current knowledge of technology, disseminates this knowledge at all levels, and seeks opportunities to deploy new technologies to the benefit of Kainos and its customers.
MINIMUM (ESSENTIAL) REQUIREMENTS:
Deep experience of database and storage technologies for both structured and unstructured data. Understanding operational considerations, licensing and compatibility moving across platforms and database engines. Such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, Cloud native databases.
Significant experience of operating database platforms and making changes in production platforms e.g. performance tuning.
Experience of Cloud Adoption Frameworks as related to database migration techniques.
Designing the migration approach, including associated analysis, data mapping & business rules, migration tools and testing.
Experience with batch data migration methods into cloud platforms (Azure Databox/AWSSnowBall), along with ETL tooling and SQL/Scripting
Able to devise and cost viable, winning engagements for sales proposals.
A highly credible and public facing thought leader, who can provide advice and guidance to clients.
