As an Accountant you’ll provide a professional accountancy service across all business processes to ensure Standard Life meets its regulatory, reputational and commercial requirements – leading and developing team members with varying levels of experience.

An opportunity has arisen for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join Group Reporting which is a successful and highly motivated team with a track record of delivering accurate and relevant results on time. The team plays a key role in the provision of financial reporting information and analysis for both internal and external reporting purposes. The team is primarily responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Group IFRS and CRD IV reporting.

You will play your part in understanding, reporting and analysing the financial information provided by business units which are collated to a Group level. You will be responsible for the development and ongoing production of information to support and contribute to external reporting requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the production of financial information, on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis in an accurate, relevant and timely manner in order to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Ensure all accounting data, provided from each business area of the Group or data provider, is prepared and reported in accordance with relevant reporting standards and business reporting requirements.
  • Understand the results and position of the business and deliver appropriate and relevant analysis to ensure Group reporting is accurate and complete.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the finance teams within the business units, other teams in Group, internal customers, data providers and external auditors.
  • Provide input into the development of financial reporting processes to ensure the production of the required reporting.
  • Be adaptable and able to balance workload and prioritise a variety of tasks.
  • Key qualifications & skills

  • Undergraduate Degree (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
  • Association Chartered Certified Accountants
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants
  • Essential

  • Qualified accountant with experience in financial services functions.
  • High level of numeracy, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Committed and enthusiastic team player.
  • Good communicator with ability to build excellent working relationships.

  • Identify, assess, control and monitor risks.
  • Make the right things happen first time, identify when things have not gone right and understand why, and recover the position.
