The successful post holder will take a major role in the management of all departmental staff: including recruitment and retention; staff appraisals; sickness management; disciplinary matters and support of staff. They will, when necessary, act as direct line manager with responsibilities for other Modalities or for the Radiology department as a whole. This role is jointly responsible for the radiology service across all London Bridge Hospital sites and travel between sites will be required.

Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Undertake diagnostic imaging on a regular basis demonstrating a high clinical expertise with the skill to teach variations in technique. 
  • To provide emotional and professional support to staff
  • Lead the LBH team of radiation protection supervisors and work closely with the LBH Radiation Protection advisor to ensure the Imaging department meets all statutory radiation regulatory requirements. 
  • Be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures within the radiology department and ensuring all staff work within these guidelines. 
  • Act as Deputy for the Imaging Operations Manager and provide cover for the Superintendent leads where necessary to ensure the continuing operational management of the Radiology service. 
  • Skills & Experience  

  • HCPC registered 
  • Degree within Radiography 
  • Knowledge of processes and procedures in radiography 
  • Desirable: Prior experience at the same level or experience in managing a team
