We are looking for Sport & Exercise Science/Sports Coaching lecturers to join an enthusiastic team of Sport and Exercise Scientists in the Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences Department on either our or pathway.
The School of Applied Sciences is recognised for the quality of the educational provision we offer, the employability of our graduates and the international reputation and partnerships we have. The Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences subject group is based within Edinburgh Napier University’s million Sighthill campus, situated in the West of Edinburgh. The Sport and Exercise Science facilities are among the best in the UK. This includes two state-of-the-art exercise physiology laboratories with access to a DXA scanner, biomedical science labs, an environmental chamber, a biomechanics laboratory fully equipped with D motion capture, force plates, EMG and an isokinetic dynamometer. There is also access to sport halls and outdoor playing pitches. There are high quality research staff members and postgraduate student populations within the school working on topics related to sports coaching, talent identification and development, coach education and applied sport science. We have a specific focus on developing talent: coaches and elite athletes; working in partnership with a number of prominent sport organisations worldwide with Coach Development and Enterprise activities being integral to our school.
We are interested in applicants with a background in Applied Psychology, and/or Applied Physiology, to help us develop and deliver on our new undergraduate BSc (Hons) Football Coaching, Performance and Development degree, and contribute to the wider groups activities (home, online and abroad e.g., Singapore) aimed at sport coaches and elite athletes, as well as general population students. Due to the applied nature of much of this work, we highly value applied experience with coaches and athletes in elite sport, with a particular focus within football.
You will support the development and delivery on our new undergraduate BSc (Hons) Football Coaching, Performance and Development degree to be responsible for developing, designing and delivering teaching and student centred learning underpinned by academic scholarship and professional practice within your assigned areas of responsibility. Also supporting commercial activity including post-graduate, PhD and CPD provision within the subject group; support students in achieving a positive experience on their. Additionally, we are particularly interested in applicants who have experience of working collaboratively and with external partners, who have been successful in external research grant applications, with a particular focus on football.
