This is an exciting time to join the G4S Facilities Management Team at Hinkley Point C. We are three years into our ten year contract, working on the largest construction site in Europe. 

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Construction and operation of Hinkley Point C will create 25,000 employment opportunities, up to 1,000 apprenticeships and 64% of the project’s construction value is predicted to go to UK companies. There are currently over 4,000 workers on site.

This is a full time role working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. The salary for this role is £60,000 per annum. In addition, you will also receive a Company Car or Car Allowance.

As Projects & Operations Manager, you will be operating within the welfare facilities that support the Hinkley Point C project, you will be supporting the Account Manager in managing and maintaining a healthy client relationship, alongside performance monitoring and reporting on a key customer account effectively and in accordance with (NEC3 based) contractual requirements and company policies and procedures.

Activities to be delivered within the environment of a complex and fast-paced multi-billion £ nuclear infrastructure programme. The Projects & Operations Manager will need to work closely with the Account Manager and the Senior Management team and regularly liaise with a range of wider internal and external programme stakeholders.

You will lead delivery of all projects ranging from minor works to major reconfiguration projects. Contract Management team members, the client and all key stakeholders will be regularly informed on the progress of all

projects with the use of project planning tools and regular engagement.

Some of your key responsibilities will include the mobilisation planning of all new projects and ensuring works and tasks are delivered within timescales to a high standard. The ideal candidate will be able to respond quickly

to solutions engaging with all key stakeholders throughout.

Key Responsibilities of this role are:

  • Work collaboratively with all the G4S FM functions on the contract, in particular the Hard and Soft FM Contract Operations team to influence and deliver agreed contract goals and objectives

  • Has a strong working relationship with the Account Manager and would be expected to deputise in the absence of, or as and when, required/directed by the Account Manager

  • Mobilisation planning of all new buildings coming on line as the HPC site develops and matures

  • Initiate and lead the development of new opportunities to grow the projects portfolio

  • Advise and influence the HPC client on potential projects, actively demonstrating proactivity to serve the changing needs of the HPC site.

  • Overall accountability for driving and growing project revenue within the contract.

  • Effective management and coordination of all infrastructure projects acting as the single point of contact with the client Project Manager.

  • Responsible for reporting of progress and performance and implementing corrective measures and seeking continuous improvement.

  • Ensure all project work and tasks are delivered within timescales set and to budget

  • Ensure all work and projects are delivered to a high standard, to industry and site specific standards adhering to the site Construction Phase Plan and associated permits for all works

  • Provision of quotations and proposals which align to the client specifications whilst proactively recommending alternative options for the desired outcome

  • Ensure all Project Management planning tools and reports are kept up to date and accurate and remain fully auditable

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships at all levels. Build a strong credible relationship with the client.

  • Produce timely and accurate management reporting to support the operational managers, Business Partners and Client reporting requirements

  • A sound understanding of FM and Commercial Operations is essential

  • Strong FM background

  • Mechanical & Electrical working knowledge

  • Experienced Project Manager

  • Project planning experience

  • Experienced in a wide range of building projects

  • Commercial acumen

  • Experience of NEC contracts

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills

  • Competent in the use of MS Project (or equivalent)
