About the Role

API is looking for a full time Safety Management Systems Coordinator to join our dynamic and high performing Safety team.

Based in the heart of Camberwell (close to public transport and plenty of great coffee) this role reports to the National Safety Manager, and will be key to further developing API’s ISO45001 accredited systems towards a goal of self-insurance (‘National Audit Tool’).

In this role you will: 

  • Be a part of a successful, highly motivated team that supports each other and has fun while achieving great results.
  • Develop, review and improve API’s Safety Management System (Policies, Standards, Procedures etc.) with support from the Safety team and key stakeholders.
  • Support API’s strategic goal of ‘a safer place to work every day’.
  • Support the transition of accreditation from ISO45001 to the National Audit Tool (‘self-insurance’).
  • Work with the Safety Team to deliver timely and quality reporting to the business.
  • Facilitate the alignment of API’s brands into API’s Safety Management System.
  • Lead API’s Safety audit programmes, and support Safety Business Partners to manage allocated actions / audit findings.
  • Develop Safety communications and maintain the Safety intranet page.
  • Maintain & support API’s online Safety systems including contractor management (RapidGlobal), incident / injury management (Solv) and chemical management (Chemwatch).
  • Participate in Safety Committees and other National stakeholder meetings to guide compliance with API’s safety management system and relevant legislation.
  • Apply a risk management approach and seek input from stakeholders to support the needs of the business.
  • About you

    You will have great attention to detail and high standards for your work within a high performing Team. You will also possess the following skills and attributes: 

  • A desire to be part of a supportive, highly motivated, highly accountable team that is known for delivering results.
  • A tertiary qualification in WHS (either completed or in-progress), with an understanding of relevant legislation.
  • A working knowledge of ISO45001, self-insurance ‘National Audit Tool’ and / or Lead Auditor accreditation will be highly regarded.
  • Competent in Microsoft suite with strong Excel skills and ability to learn API systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of work.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within the team.
  • Ability to be agile and change direction if required to achieve best outcomes.
