We are looking for a Sales Specialist for our Chemicals and Chromatography portfolio to join our business, covering North region of England on a Maternity Cover basis.

In your role as a Sales Specialist for Avantor, you will relentlessly develop strong, sustainable relationships with your customer base, utilising your extensive knowledge of our Chemicals portfolio to build solutions that are unique to each customer and their requirements.

Working hours: Monday-Friday

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Utilise our internal network of product experts and extensive catalogue of Chemical products to support you in designing relevant product packages for our customers
  • Develop customer relationships, including end users, stores, and procurement teams, by proactively organising customer visits and meetings regularly, aiming to maintain and enhance the opportunity for sales and growth
  • Enhance your pipeline of prospects and opportunities through appropriate planning and forecasting to accurately determine and achieve set KPI’s
  • Provide technical support to general Account Managers, sales teams, and other relevant internal stakeholders
  • Learn to confidently perform product training, demonstrations, and seminars to the customer base in addition to designing and delivering internal product training programs for Account Managers, which will enable them to sell and promote our core chemical products
  • Advise and support with the preparation of quotations and tenders for our products and packages
  • What you’ll need to be successful at Avantor:

  • Extensive sales and account management experience, preferably within the Chemicals industry, to ensure the maximisation of sales and growth opportunities
  • A degree in a Chemistry or related subject is desirable
  • Strong presentation skills, including creating presentations on PowerPoint. You should also have experience manipulating and analysing data in Excel
  • Strong organisation skills, you will manage a variety of different customers at different stages in the sales cycle while communicating with various other stakeholders
  • Outstanding communication skills. You will need the confidence to be proactive and use influencing/negotiation skills to drive conversations and relationships forwards
  • A valid Driving License
  • Commercial understanding of the market, potential competition, pricing and discount structures would be beneficial
