The opportunity

This is a fixed-term contract for 12-18 months.

The senior finance business partner (SFBP) will lead the reporting and analysis cycles for the construct ledgers' International elements - leading month-end reporting activities and mid-month governance checklists. The international elements of construct ledgers currently consist of operations in 4 European countries, split across 4 different legal entities.

The SFBP will act as a gatekeeper ensuring group internal controls and policies are adhered to. The SFBP will also be responsible for the balance sheets of the legal entities managed and the annual audit preparation as well as ad-hoc reporting when requested by the finance director or CFO.

The SFBP will operate as the lead finance business partner for all International construct areas, demonstrating credibility as someone who understands the challenges and issues being faced in both business operations and the finance processes - particularly whilst construction is operating across two finance systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

Reporting, forecasting and analysis

  • Evaluating and reviewing the reconciliation of all International accounts in the construct ledgers. Taking ownership of the balance sheet as well liaising with group GL accountants.

  • Supervising month-end close across the international construct ledgers ensuring deadlines are met, and all sub-ledgers are aligned. Adding value to this reporting utilising commercial awareness and critical assessment to provide commentary and feedback.

  • Coordinating and consolidating monthly project cashflow forecasting across all international projects and pipelines for FD review, challenging methods and areas for improvement.

  • KPI and trending reporting across International projects. Providing management accounts, and other ad hoc reports required for board meetings and other management discussions.

  • Internal/external audit

  • Directing on the team's preparation and training ahead of annual audits, anticipating and escalating potential issues - commercial teams/graduate.

  • Acting as the main contact for annual auditor’s testing.

  • Producing the PBC deliverables for the annual audit.

  • Assisting in carrying out regular peer reviews of CVR reporting and assumptions.

  • Performing ad-hoc internal audit tasks where required.

  • System expert/change management

  • Maintaining and updating the international finance business partner checklists in line with process/control improvements.

  • Maintaining process consistency with the UK.

  • Managing the adoption of new systems and their rollout to International construct areas.

  • Controls and governance

  • Liaising with TP accountant/tax team to ensure the group transfer pricing policy is followed.

  • Reviewing balance sheets and ensure group processes and reconciliations are being run correctly and on time.

  • Coordinating bonus allocations and accruals.

  • Being an expert in group policy and implications for construct finance.

  • Ensuring accounting processes on projects - billing, revenue and cost controls are disciplined and effective.
