Our well-established software team in Royston has a position for a Software Developer. You will be responsible for the design, development, testing, documentation and maintenance of high quality software for new and existing systems. You will also participate in the continuous improvement of the software group platforms, processes and techniques. This role will include working on individual and group projects.
What you will accomplish together with us:
Gathering, analysing and defining requirements for new complex software functionality
Collaborating closely with product development, product management and technical support teams
Converting system requirements into software component designs
Engineering and developing sustainable software systems through the use of prototyping, clear software design and participating in design reviews
Writing clear, easy to maintain and high-quality codes
Writing comprehensive design, functional, end user and quality assurance test documentation
Implementing automated testing at the unit and nightly regression framework levels
Conducting peer reviews of designs, documents and code
Validating correct software and hardware system integration and operations
What will convince us:
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
Strong hands-on experience in developing commercial software products in a manufacturing setting
Excellent development skills with proven high-level proficiency in C# (Framework 4.0+) through professional use of Visual Studio development environment
Familiar with use of patterns and .NET frameworks in construction of large and complex software applications
Strong, demonstrable, object-oriented software development skills and ability to work constructively in a team environment
Proven experience with modern software engineering processes and methodologies
Knowledge of one or more of the following desired: WPF, Windows Forms, WCF, SQL and database programming, hardware control/interfaces (serial, network, USB), graphical user interface design and development, the MVVM design pattern, memory and performance optimization, data analysis and visualization, graphing tools and parallel programming
Experience of working in Agile environment
Experience of using version control, change control and code quality control processes - GIT
Familiar with of Rest APIs, Microservices and common modelling/design approaches - UML
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and to collaborate with a variety of colleagues across different functions and internationally
