The Technical Accounting and Policy Manager at Kensington Mortgages will ensure that all transactions are correctly accounted for in accordance with accounting standards and group accounting policies and that the approach taken with respect to non-routine, complex or judgemental matters is appropriately documented. Key Responsibilities ¿ Transactions and Complex Matters
Act as the key contact from Financial Control for all business deals including portfolio purchases or sales, securitisation transactions, bond purchases or sales and any other complex transactions that the business enters into.
Ensure that the details and accounting for such transactions is appropriately documented and that the transactions are correctly recorded in the ledger and correctly presented in the financial statements.
Present accounting conclusions and bookings for such transactions to external auditors in order to ensure their full understanding to ensure smooth and timely audit approval.
Manage the compliance provisioning process ensuring that all compliance matters are sufficiently and appropriately provided for
Maintain and update group accounting policies, liaising with external accounting advisors where necessary.
Advise on new accounting requirements or developments that may necessitate changes to group accounting policies or new policies.
Attend updates and training to remain up to date with any new accounting standards and industry interpretation and practice
Ensure that the general ledger is correctly maintained, such that collapsed special purpose vehicles are correctly accounted for, liquidation entries are correctly booked and consolidation books are appropriately used.
Ensure that monthly processes and bookings support the correct accounting at entity level. Ensure that intercompany balances are correctly maintained, reconciled and settled.
Design processes and manage changes where needed to ensure that the GL supports efficient reporting of financial results on a sub-consolidated or divisional basis as required by the business.
Liaise with Credit Analytics team to ensure that appropriate impairment models are maintained and that impairment is correctly recorded.
Review effective interest rate (EIR) models to ensure that they are correctly recognising EIR in accordance with the agreed approach in line with assumptions used and that correct EIR bookings are made to the ledger.
Experience & Skills
Strong Financial Statements accounting background, either gained through an audit background or group statutory accounting or accounting policy function, ideally with Financial Services experience
Thorough knowledge of IFRS
Excellent written presentation, including accounting memos, policies or opinions
Excellent analytical, logical thinking and communication skills
Demonstrating a strong ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines
Planning, prioritising and demonstrating time management skils
